A House with Deep Roots

The property was first officially mentioned in records in 1652.However, it likely existed long before that.

For many years, the Rochelehof was a traditional small farm in Marlengo near Merano – shaped by agriculture, everyday life, and the rhythm of the village.

It was only after the Second World War that a new chapter began.

The Beginning of Hospitality

When our great-grandfather passed away at a young age, everything changed.Our great-grandmother Filomena was left alone with her children.

She had to find new ways forward. This is how she began welcoming the first guests – simple, direct, and without a defined concept. It was not a typical tourism idea, but a form of hospitality that has grown naturally in South Tyrol and the Merano region: personal, uncomplicated, and closely connected to everyday life.

Four Generations Later

Today, the MENA Guesthouse in Marlengo is run by the fourth generation.

With the renovation in 2026, we consciously developed the house further – not to create something entirely new, but to preserve what already existed and combine it with modern standards. Working with local craftsmen was particularly important to us, as well as treating the historic structure with respect.

The result is accommodation near Merano that allows guests to feel the history of the place while enjoying modern living comfort.

Why “MENA”

With this new chapter came a new name. MENA is derived from Filomena.

It directly connects to the beginnings of guest accommodation in our house in Marlengo – to a woman who had the courage to create something new during a difficult time.

To this day, the name stands for exactly these values:authenticity, simplicity, and a personal connection.

Our guesthouse in Marlengo has intentionally remained small.

Six units, clear structures, and a calm atmosphere.

We do not see ourselves as a classic hotel near Merano – and we do not aim to be one.
